So you came with someone who is busy at the camp or you're done with the camp for the day and you need something to do. Well, being in downtown Iowa City, you're in luck!
A short walk across the Pentacrest is the Pedestrian Mall, an Iowa City landmark. Here you will find a plethora of shops, restaurants and entertainment venues, such as Prairie Lights Bookstore and the Englert theater. The Friday Night Concert Series, held on the center of the Ped, is another event to stop by. Check out the Iowa City Downtown Association's webpage for more information. On the way downtown, you might stop in to the Museum of Natural History or stop by the Old Capitol Museum.
If you're looking to travel outside of downtown, the Iowa City area has a host of other destinations. Just north of the IMU is City Park, easily accessible via the Iowa River Corridor Trail. Coral Ridge Mall is less than 15 minutes away and offers many shopping choices, an ice skating rink, as well as the Iowa Children's Museum.
For a full listing of all that's available, see the Iowa City/Coralville Convention and Visitors Bureau website.
